Frequently Asked Questions

My child already attends school for 9 months out of the year. Why should I send them to school for 2 weeks of their break?

Our camps are more than just language instruction. Our camps provide children with a chance to discover another part of the world. Children will learn more than just the language; they will also be exposed to the music, culture, and history of the language they choose to study. Our teachers employ fun, interactive games to teach the language.

What are the benefits of studying a foreign language?

Learning a foreign language is highly beneficial for children since studies have shown that it increases basic skills performance. A study of over 17,000 students applying to college demonstrated that students who had completed foreign language courses in high school tended to have higher ACT and SAT verbal scores.

Knowledge of a foreign language also opens you up to a different culture. Travelers who speak the language of their host country often enjoy more authentic and inclusive experiences than people who do not know the language.  Additionally, this knowledge gives one an edge in the job market.  The government, multinational companies, and humanitarian organizations in particular highly value people who are multilingual.

What if I need to drop my child off early before the camp starts?

Talk to us about your concerns. We may be able to arrange something.

Who teaches the camps?

Our teacher is a native speaker and professionally trained. We adhere to the Natural and Total Physical Response Approaches.  The approach favors a higher level of activity, in that students will be required to physically follow the instructions of the teacher. For instance, when the teacher says things, such as "sit down" or "stand up," students will do those actions to demonstrate their understanding. Our teachers also use creative methods and games to teach the language so that children will have fun learning a new language.

Will my child be fluent after the camp is finished?

No, fluency takes much longer to acquire; however, our camp provides an excellent basis for future study. Additionally, if your child decides that they would like to continue after completion, we would be delighted to set you up with a private tutor or direct you to other classes in the area.

Will transportation be provided?

No.
