Over 250 elementary and middle school students from disadvantaged neighborhoods will
"travel" to other parts of the world through an interactive discovery process. At-risk youths
from around the world are provided language learning tools and access to the rich heritage of
different nations. Selected cultural and ethnic organizations are invited to share their
heritage, serve as personal guides, and provide hands on guidance in experiencing their
culture. A2W's goal is to present the diverse mix of nationalities, cultures, and
languages that make up the United States and provide a basis for understanding as children
are developing assumptions about the world in which they live.
