The Gyeonggi-do Institute for Foreign Language Education, under the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, is looking to hire native English-speaking instructors conducting in-service professional development courses at the prestigious teacher training facility near Pyeongtaek City, located south of Seoul. Instructors teach courses aimed at developing methodology and/or English skills. The trainees are Korean EFL teachers currently working in schools around the province: small sizes classes and adult only. Conditions of the position are as follows:

Requirements:

• Position 1) Master’s degree in TESOL, Education, Applied Linguistics or related field (at least two years teaching experience needed)
• Position 2) Master’s degree in TESOL, Education, Applied Linguistics or related field with a background in Drama and a background or interest in Drama for educational purposes (at least two years teaching experience needed)

Benefits:

• Salary: 2,500,000 - 3,000,000 Korean won per month, depending on qualifications and experience
• Settlement Allowance: 300,000 Won
• Housing:
  - On campus single apartment provided by Employer
  - Off campus married accommodation provided by Employer
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
• Instruction hours per week: maximum of 21 hours (However most instructors teach 17 hours)
• Vacation: Approximately two months (including Saturday, Sunday) plus national holidays.
• Severance pay equivalent to one month’s salary given at the completion of a 12-month contract.
• Addition of Allowance: 100,000 won per month is given for traveling to Seoul (the capital of Korea).
• Airfare: Supplied by Employer
• Friendly, professional colleagues (at least 9 international colleagues)
• Small classes (maximum 12 trainees)

Duties:

• Conduct intensive workshops focused on classroom micro–teaching training or English proficiency development for teacher trainees.
• Assist in developing curriculum and teaching materials
• Participate in seminars and workshops
• This is a one year contract with an option to renew.
