2) Community Activities


Computer classes for adult immigrants offered at three schools in the
Rainier Valley
A weekly conversation circle for adult immigrants offered at the Filipino
Community Center
Parent nights each semester to celebrate the accomplishments of the A2O
students (and to raffle off great prizes donated by local businesses)


3) Summer Language Program (in Partnership with Seattle Public Schools)

A2O worked with the Seattle Public Schools summer school program for 250 immigrant children to offer, for the first time, afternoon activities to enrich the experiences of the students attending morning intensive English classes.

Activities, done once each for K-5 students and 6-12 students, included:

Seattle Audubon specialists providing a variety of learning activity stations
at the Seattle Bilingual Orientation Center
Ferry to Bainbridge Island and walk to Eagle Harbor Park
Trip to Woodland Park Zoo
Pond and Beach exploration at Discovery Park, with help from Discovery
Park naturalists
